1 of 1 found this helpful A fantastic sports book you never heard of. Yes, depressing, yes gritty, but it embodies what so many other books do not. It reminds me of my own Brooklyn up ringing and my place in the Brooklyn culture of baseballAI tip of the hat to all of those that grew up in a dysfunctional immigrant family. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. I know exactly what Joe is talking about. In spite of all this I remember Joe Pepitone as a marquee Yankee player who was destined for the Hall of Fame, Who probably got in his own way a lot due to external influences. A compelling read. Five stars. God bless you Joe!
