Oldster and Teen Face Death
How the terminally ill keep living until the end is a worthy topic. The beginning of the novel approached it with a wry perspective. But important characters were not even given a name, much less a degree of humanity. As life stories were told in the form of vignettes, they failed to be interesting or show character growth. It was a book club read, so I slogged through it. The Fault in our Stars is a much more engaging read about terminally ill teens’ determination to keep living.

Nature + Mystery + Coming of Age = Great Book
6 of 6 found this helpful Probably among the top five books I have read in the past five years. Engaging characters, original plot and setting, wonderfully written. Could not put it down, then handed it over to my husband, who loved it just as much (and we typically read different genres).
