Versatile carry around camera
The Sony R1 camera has a very good lens with a usable range (24 - 120 mm) and good low light performance. I don't have to worry about dust getting inside since the lens is permanently attached. I have a DSLR (A200) with more lens options but the R1 is very capable and usually my choice to carry on trips. The LCD can be angled to allow composing a picture from most any angle. Lack of shutter noise is an advantage for stealth (wildlife or street) photography. The camera does not have anti shake technology but this hasn't been a problem with hand held shots.
