Nice LTE phone for a song
1 of 1 found this helpful Purchased as an interim phone when my phone unexpectedly died. With 1-yr of Prime, net cost was $10.00 and the intention was to wait for a more desirable phone to go on sale. With this phone I can be VERY patient. I didn't think that I would like it as much as I do. It connected without fuss to my Consumer Cellular account after I installed their free small format Simm and called it in. The LTE is a major improvement over my 3G in speed and also in range. The Amazon benefits, (Kindle library, Firefly, X-Ray) extended to the fire phone enhance my Prime. Connections are secure, phone audio is excellent both ways, and their UI is different than stock Android, but not problematic like some other proprietary skins, once learned. The camera takes very good full light and mid light shots and the dedicated button provides convenient launch. Battery life has been surprisingly good.
The phone is not perfect. The 4.7" screen is smaller with higher res than my previous screen (the triple tap magnifier helps) but my aging eyes long for a bigger display. The Voice commands are severely limited, and in my opinion, are worthless compared to Google's. The internal storage is adequate for now, but lacking an MSD slot limits its expandability and pretty much reduces its value as a portable media player when offline. The integrated battery also limits the life expectancy. I have found some apps that are 'incompatible' with this version, but all of my frequently used apps are working fine. The browser is more than adequate for frequent use.
My priority is for a phone that makes and receives calls clearly without drops and this one is perfect for that purpose. I don't use my phone for every purpose imaginable. I have had the phone for about 1 month and have not had a single lockup or dropped call. Every text and photo text has been sent and successfully delivered. It has served me well and once you recognize, ACCEPT, and learn about its limitations, it will probably serve you well too.

I highly doubt that you will be disappointed
These speakers are Fantastic. Mounted outside on my house exposed to the harsh Wisconsin seasons, they've delighted my guests, my wife and I during our daily spring gardening reaching all corners of my 1.3 acre lot, and dare I say, a few neighbors, for just shy of 4 years. That's under $9.00 per year for exceptional sound. Everybody has compliments and those that I tell that they were under $40.00 are amazed. These have sounded better and performed longer than any brand that I have tried, including a premium brand known to all. Don’t stop making them. I will be back in 4-5 years, after over a thousand hours use, the abuse of temperature ranges from 20 degrees below to 100 degrees, and the extreme humidity, rain, snow, and sleet finally exhaust them.

It is hard to envision a better phone for a first time Android user
I bought this to replace my wife's dying dumb phone wanting to stick with Android 4 ICS like our tablet. With googled coaching I found settings for our consumer cellular account, and the phone paired well. It has been a trouble free good quality phone without any dropped calls for a couple of months now. Unlike our kids, we're not data fiend power users but I consider it relatively speedy, with a clear screen and good response. Every downloaded app has worked well and with a 32gb card installed, we've never had a lockup.
We found Youtube Android ICS videos written for other phones helpful for basic instructions and for optimizing ours. Navigation maps are clumsier than our regular car GPS, but they would do in a pinch. The camera isn't any better than just "OK" and truly is a convenience only device for a serious amateur photographer.
Our biggest complaint is lack of accessories for this newer model. I found a soft TPU Gel Back Case Cover Skin For Huawei Ascend G300(same screen measurement) on eBay that fits perfectly with a paper punch modification for the LED flash and a wallet type folding leather case on Amazon. Still looking for additional batteries...We are adjusting to the reduced battery life over the obsolete flip phone. Yes it is shorter, but with Wifi, GPS and data plan turned off we get several days of phone standby time before needing a boost. Active internet and data use demand daily charging.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anybody whose primary purpose is to have a reliable, good quality phone who also wants to carry all the bells and whistles for occasional use. It is not an Iphone or a high end Galaxy and accessories ARE a challenge, but I can find better uses for the additional $500.00 or more that I saved while remaining free from a two year contract so I can take my gms unlocked phone with me to a number of potential service options.
