Garmin Rino 120 Handheld GPS Receiver
While elk hunting with my son I came across another hunter and he and his partner were using Garmin Rino 120 GPS Receivers. He knew right where his partner was located. I on the other hand knew approximately where my son might be give or take several different options based on some different spots he was going to check out before meeting back up with me. I was familiar with all of the spots my son was going to check out but I could not know for sure which one he would be at at any given time. I could make an educated guess based on our hunting plans for the day but I could only know for sure what time and where we had previously agreed to meet. I really liked the peer to peer feature and decided to do some research. My wife decided to purchase two of the Garmin Rino 120 units for me and I am so glad that she did. I told her about a testimonial I read online. Two sons and a father were hunting and they were using some Garmin 120 units. Sometime during the day the sons tried to reach their dad on the radio but he did not respond. The peer to peer feature allowed them to go to his location. He had suffered a heart attack and they were able to get to him in time to save his life. This in and of itself was enough to convince my wife to purchase these for me. It gives us both a tremendous amount of peace of mind. The only thing that I dislike about the entire package: I had to purchase another cable to connect the cable that came with the 120 to my laptop by way of a USB port. Once I did that I could use a Mapsource Topo DVD and create different hiking and/or hunting trips with waypoints and download them to my Garmin Rino 120. I am so glad that I took the time to talk to the hunter that day in November 2007 and I am blessed to have a wife that spoils me rotten.
