Sony SAL-70200G Zoom Lens - The Review
For comparison I also have the SAL-18200 lens from Sony. The 18200 came with the A100 camera I bought but the 70200G lens takes a much clearer picture at full zoom than the 18200 does and does it extremely faster. I do not own this 70200G lens but a friend does and I have borrowed it many times and continue to do so. The zoom is VERY fast to focus, if not instant in some cases and operates very quietly. It has a higher contrast and much better correction of chromatic aberrations. It has 3 focus hold buttons in different places on the lens. Once you familiarize yourself with the locations it makes for fast & easy focusing when holding the camera at different angles. As with most other newer Sony lenses, this also has the internal focusing so the length of the lens does not change, helping to provide a steadier shot. In my opinion the price of this lens is the only downside to it. If you have the cash to part with and are considering a fast auto focus zoom lens, you won't be disappointed with this one. Sony STR-DG1000 Receiver
UPDATED 4/7/2018 - I have owned my STR-DG1000 for about 10 years now. When I purchased this in 2008. At the time I needed a more up-to-date receiver for my newer HDTV and being a Sony customer for years with no problems, Sony it was. Set-up was straight forward, throw away your old RCA plugs and simply attach HDMI cables to any components you want to play through the receiver and plug them in! On screen set-up is a breeze. I have it playing through set of Klipsch RF series speakers, RF-62’s, RS-62’s, an RC-62 and a Klipsch powered 10” sub. The sound is crisp & clear. With 840 watts, it is plenty loud at lower volumes, which is great for watching movies and not feeling like you had to turn it up full volume just to hear the surround effects. Whether I am watching TV, listening to the radio, playing the PS4 or a movie the sound is always crisp, clear and steady. FM reception is great, even with the antenna stuffed behind the receiver I pick up a few more stations than I could with my previous receiver. Now that I have incorporated everything else through this receiver, I wish I had bought the next step up and got one that had a Digital Media Port for controlling an iPod through the receiver! I remodeled my living room in 2015 and had this receiver disconnected for about 2 months. Once I hooked it back up it kept “clipping” the receiver when using at mid-level volume. A trip to the local electronics technicians and less than $100 later it was back in business with no issues since the repair. That was 3 years ago, seems like it was the power supply going out, I don’t remember exactly what had happened but for less than $100 it was worth repairing. Pros 1. Full 1080p 2.Easy to use On Screen Set-up 3. Component, S-video & composite signals can be converted to HDMI output (1080i). I went from a string of wires & RCA plugs to 3 HDMI cables. 4. Blu-Ray support – Works seamlessly with my PS4 for games, Blu-Ray, Netflix and any other apps. Cons 1. No “Digital Media Port” – (iPod connectivity). I knew this going in but I would recommend a Sony receiver WITH a Digital Media Port if you want to control your iPod or digital media through the receiver.

Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM - GREAT Monitor!
Samsung wins again! Straight out of the box there is nothing to dislike about this monitor. It's stylish, lightweight ( about 11 lbs.), has a small footprint and is VERY bright. Some may want to turn it down a bit but I'm not complaining! It has several brightness settings built in for text, gaming & others. Straight out of the box set-up was a breeze using Windows XP. It's also Windows Vista compatible! With a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a color depth of over 16 million colors & a 5ms response time, the clarity & response is great! I have played with the color settings...you know how it is with features...but out of the box the only thing you may adjust is the brightness. I don't use it for gaming but I can't see why it would not be just as clear & responsive for that. The built in speakers are great for a monitor, but I could see having a sound system with them for gaming! Best of all is probably the 3 year warranty! CONS: None so far! As long as it holds up , and I'm sure it will, It's a winner! Please vote YES below if you found this review helpful. THANKS!
