super-colossal!

i bought this specifically to figure out the japanese name of a certain character (which i did handily due to the bilingual 2-in-1 pairing of japanese and english versions) and to relive the wonder of my original childhood viewing. of course, it feels like the first time because of the anamorphic widescreen. this movie has it all: giant rubber monster fights, flying saucers, japanese extra-terrestrials in wrap-shades, and a heroic nerd inventor. arigato, toho!

birdly legal

if you're familiar with the text adventure game based on the show from the adult swim website, you'll be prepared for the garden-of-forking-paths structure of this game made for the wii. while it is by no means wii-centric, it it enjoyable for its deductive reasoning challenges and classic harvey birdman animated gags.

ddr is to dancing as gtr hero is to shredding

just as other musical simulation games require no musical talent (i've even read that actually knowing how to play guitar reduces your chances of scoring), dance dance revolution simply requires good foot-eye coordination. that said, it is a hell of a workout with training and workout modes designed to track your performance-- which, if you've ever seen anyone play ddr, looks hilarious.
