DDR3 RAM at a steal of a price
Good, clean RAM, sealed in an anti-static bag. The heat spreaders add some confidence, and the price-point is hard to beat.

Best virtual host bang for the buck
High density virtual machine hosting in a 2u form factor, and with lots of head room to add CPU and RAM. Enterprise iDRAC was icing on the cake. Dell makes firmware updates super easy, just use Dell Repository Manager and follow the instructions, add the bootable ISO option when you start it up, download the patches, make a USB stick or go old skool and burn a disc, boot it and sit back while it updates everything. If you want an all rounder then yeah a. R710 or R720 is the way to go, but for my needs/wants, the R815 is hard to beat.

When you need that obscure part
1 of 1 found this helpful I needed these for an old Promise vTrak Drive shelf unit that came without them. The vTrak functions fine without the boards installed but you can’t mix SATA and SAS drives or enable multipathing without the boards installed on each drive sled. Now that each drive has a board, I can mix and match drives as needed, and multipathing works. I’m testing each one now and not a bad unit yet, and everything works as expected.
