Tanks Inc. 51-CGX Fuel Tank, Steel, Galvanized, 18-Gallon, Chevy, Each

Nice quality, strap fabrication required, provided hose too large for stock filler neck, welded bung larger than stock
Tank was well packaged, a box within a larger box contained the tank. The tank included new mounting straps which have to be cut to length, bent into a 90* angle and 3/8" holes drilled to accommodate mounting hardware. Mounting hardware is not included, try to salvage your original hardware for ease of installation. The new tank's filler neck came as 1.5" O.D., original is 1.375" O.D. and hose provided with tank was for 1.5". The filler neck on the 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe is 1.375" O.D. as well, meaning the provided hose was too large. Had to buy a smaller hose size 1.375" I.D. in order to connect filler neck to tank. Vent side was same as factory and included hose worked with stock filler neck. We attached the hoses to the tank after installing the tank. This proved to be a challenge due to frame and bumper bracket locations. I would recommend installing the hoses on the tank prior to tank installation and covering the open end with tape so no debris can fall inside the tank. The stock fuel line adapter was too small for the welded tank bung on the new tank. Stock is 1/8" and new tank bung is 3/8". we used an adapter fitting to make it work. We used the Tanks Inc. sending unit 0-30 ohms for our application and only had to hook up a ground wire under the car. Original tank was grounded through the strap hardware apparently, as there was no ground wire from the original sending unit to the body. Overall, nice quality tank and anyone with light fabrication skills can get it done within 2 hours, with or without car on a lift.
