Plus versions are just volume licensing
The Plus versions are all volume licensing. I paid for one, and about a year later, I replaced my motherboard. Office wanted to be reactivated, but when I tried to activate, it said it was an invalid SN. What a waste of money.

Moderately fast, highly compatible, and inexpensive.
Moderately fast, highly compatible, and inexpensive. It's not as fast as SOME of the newer generation cards, but well faster than other new generation cards. Fan noise considerable when you start it, but then fairly quiet.

Streaky printouts
1 of 1 found this helpful There were very slight lines in the solid colors in the print quality test page, and later in the blacks. I bought some new, non-expired genuine HP print heads, and although I couldn't get the printer to align with these refurbished ones or the new ones, with the new ones, the print quality appears flawless.
TIP: In order to get your Officejet Pro 8500a (without a keypad) to show its secret diagnostics menu, note that there are buttons just outside the display area that light depending on where you are in the menus, but are virtually invisible when not lit. Note where the one with the curved arrow (for back) is. Go to the home menu (copy, scan, etc.), and tap where the curved arrow had been lit four times. Using right and left now, you can get to a menu that offers you a choice to disable print head alignment. Mine was in a state that it wanted to print out an alignment page with every print, but now it for all intents and purposes, works fine. You can still align them through the utility menu which is alongside preferences.
