Its enjoyable and if you like Starship Troopers this should be nice for you.
In my eyes its a great in between for the movies and the book. Im not great with words when it comes to describing why its so enjoyable but if you like starship troopers. it shouldn't be too bad for you.

Easy to learn hard to master, realitviely cheap, fun, slightly flimsy, well worth the money and pretty high quality.
The game is simple to learn, it is fun. its hard to master and It is what itd describe as chess in a sense. The models are pretty to look at (to the point of being good enough just to set up as decoration.) their is a nice feeling that no matter what you get for the game down the road that it feels worth its typical price and that your not really getting ripped off at all. I think the only bad i have about the game (and i mean the X-wing game in general not the core set) is that some of the models are a bit flimsy and you worry that if you take them off the stands wrong or handle them wrong you'll end up breaking the wings or something. I think that is inevitable though really..... overall the only things i could wish for more of out of X-wing miniatures as a whole is maybe an ugly-class creation kit (with its own little rules). some more Large ships, ( frigates and cruisers would be great but i dont want to be paying 60 USD for em either... Its complicated.) maybe more small ships that come in something like a 20 USD pack or even ways to set up a "mercenary" game/ (basically tools like a number or color magnet so that you can play games where you pick what ships you want and play it out. I guess finally would be for mission ships like the transports to be given their own little ships for the sake of providing a visual model for objectives. Overall I strongly recommend X-wing for those who want a chess level game (with some extra bits and bobs) that is relatively easy to learn and hard to master as well as those who want a miniatures game that wont eat your wallet like warhammer 40K or armada.
