The 4100B replaced my ancient SpeedStream 5360DSL modem
I am technically savvy, but the way the phone company handles DSL is a total mystery to me. I've had DSL through SBC Global for many years, though the billing is through AT&T. The DSL is quite reliable and since I use it for work, I try not to mess with it. However, as of late, everything seemed to get a bit slower and I wondered if perhaps my ancient SpeedStream 5360 ADSL modem was to blame.
I did some online research on possible replacements, just to find very little concrete information on what might work with an AT&T ADSL line. New products seemed unattractive as most seem combined with routers and WiFi, and I already have a very good WiFi access point. And reviews of the new models were not very good. Eventually some sort of consensus seemed to emerge: The old Siemens SpeedStream 4100B gathered almost universal praise.
I found one on eBay, very reasonably priced. It's much smaller than my old SpeedStream 5360. I really didn't want to mess up my DSL and so followed the instructions by the letter, using the installation CD. After working my way through several of the installation screens, I get a message saying that this way of installing is no longer supported. It's now an online process via a website whose URL was given. So I try that, and after quite a few attempts where the modem wasn't recognized, I finally managed to convince the installer that I actually had a modem connected. And low and behold, AT&T's website accepted it.
Next problem: the 4100B didn't want to play ball with my Belkin WiFi router. Wired internet access worked, but not WiFi. The solution here was to tell the Belkin I was using a cable modem, and not DSL. Go figure.
All is well now. The SpeedStream 4100B works flawlessly, seems faster, and seems to be able to handle heavy loads with multiple up and downloads much better than the older 5360 modem.

Good replacement battery
1 of 1 found this helpful When the original (internal) battery of my BV6000 puffed up I needed a quick replacement. I knew it would take a bit longer getting it from China, but it arrived soon enough. Battery looked good, fit well, and works great.

My preferred Apple TV
2 of 2 found this helpful We have and use all four generations of the Apple TV device. Of those, I continue to like the 3rd generation best. I like the simple mechanical remote where you always know which side is up and you won't inadvertently trigger an action, as is the case with capacitive controls. I like that the third gen simply provides access to viewing content, no more and no less.
