very good value for a budget wheel
All exactly as expected. Very reasonably true for a budget wheel. Good quality material.

Far less than the advertised +2 to 4 stops and unacceptable striped patterns of light
I didn't even get +2 stops of light compared to the naked flash (everything else being the same) and the resulting image with a 600mm lens shows half a dozen horizontal stripes. The stripes are very pronounced - at least 1 stop of light between the brightest and the darkest areas. Clearly a very bad fresnel lens.
Side by side comparison shows that the Better Beamer has a much stronget light output compared to the JJC FX-600 (at least two stops of light) and almost even light across the whole frame.
In addition, the JJC FX-600 is a fairly large and cumbersome box. Because it is closed, it has lots of velcros to manage which quickly becomes frustrating when it is dark and cold. Finally, alighning the beam to the lenx is pretty fidly. Not a good design.
