Italeri M4A3E8 Fury
2 of 2 found this helpful An excellent starting point 1/35 Fury.. The kit is a mix of old and new molds.
Study the instruction... Step 1 the locations for the large twin return rollers, parts 11e, 16e, 15e, are about 2mm too high. If placed as directed, the Fury tracks will sit too tight to the lower hull sponson.
I recommend assembling all of the suspension parts, and installing after mating the upper and lower hull. Care must be taken and clamps used to obtain a tight fit; the bogie trucks and other suspension parts would only be in the way.
Step 5 diagram shows the rear hull plate of the M4A1, which one sprue comes from that kit. Use part 19a, which has a small single access door. The two grab handles 30a, are not needed.
Step 10, the large fenders have a channel on the edge nearest the hull, this fits under the hull sponsons. So the care you took assembling the upper and lower hull will pay off here. The fenders will have a strong joint. I also recommend assembling the fenders from front to rear, you may have removed too much plastic when the small fenders were cut away from the upper hull. This way any error can be fixed with a small spacer.
Step 11, parts 50c, and 51c....should be rotated, the bolt detail should face out.
Stowage, is excellent, and gives you about 90% of what you need. Very close to the movie..minor changes and careful clean up will render good results. Cardboard ration boxes are missing but easily recreated.. There are extra grab handles in the kit that can be positioned as anchor points for the turret stowage. The M1 steel helmets are the finest I've seen...considering I wore one for a very long time....that should count for something..lol
Overall an excellent kit for the price, with fine detail, careful assembly will make this kit shine.
