A Simple, Unpretentious, Elegant Watch for Traditionalists
1 of 1 found this helpful Not what one would think of when one thinks of a Casio watch, other than the excellent quality. A simple, uncomplicated, well-made, analog timepiece. Full arabic numerals, a second-hand, and minute markers. The crown is easy to use, and the hands are nice and tight with no play -- a rarity these days in inexpensive watches. The jubilee-esque band is comfortable and easily adjusted with the micro-adjustment pin on the clasp, requiring only a toothpick. Most people will not need to mess with the folded links to adjust the size. The watch can be worn as a dress watch or everyday watch. It is traditionally sized, so relatively small when compared to today's men's watches. There is no day/date complication, so the watch simply tells the time, and this is what I was looking for. The watch, while simple and legible, is not necessarily an "Easy-Reader," as the gold hands contrast only so much with the white face. I highly recommend this watch for traditionalists, and the quality is much better than others in this price range.

Good Mute for the Salon
I like this mute very much, not so much as an orchestral mute (a bit clumsy to lodge properly on the bridge when time is precious) or as a practice mute (as this is not its purpose), but a good mute for the parlor or small living room, when one doesn't necessarily want to project to the back rows of an auditorium or overwhelm one's dinner guests. I find it has a bit more muting power than most other orchestral mutes -- e.g., Tourte, Spector, Roth, Finissima, etc. The effectiveness of a sliding mute, I find, often depends on a specific violin's bridge; sometimes the mute -- the sliding mute, which this is not -- makes proper contact and sometimes it does not, and muting is hit and miss. This mute works well for nearly every violin bridge and the muting quality is obvious and the sound pleasant to the ear. I recommend this mute to those who simply wish to take down the volume a notch or two at home. Depending how the mute fits on the strings, it does have the potential to rattle a bit when in the rest position. It does not rattle on one of my violins, but does rather badly on another.
