Simple but states what the book is about.
"Operation Drumbeat" takes you into WWII with German U-boats that were playing havoc with the Liberty Ships and Victory Ships that were loaded with supplies for the war effort and the tankers that carried the petroleum products to fuel U.S. ships and airplanes. It also looks at the mistakes that the American Admirals and Generals made with NOT ordering a "Black Out" to be in effect on the coastal towns on the east coast as the lights set-up a perfect scenario of sinking these ships. The mistake of not arming the ship sooner with Navy personnel (Navy Armed Guards) but these ships should have been also armed with more than small caliber guns. After losing many supply ships, naval command came up with them to travel in conveys with U.S. Navy escorting these supply ships. This book should be a must read for high school students or college studying World War II.
