Acu-Rite ..limited
My background is in computer electronics ... I've also been a ham radio operator for half a century, so I know about electronics. First, I found the Acu-Rite to be a good bargain for price. I liked the simplicity of mounting all the sensors in one package, though I worry the little photo-cell powered fan might not do it's job in the summer, everything seems to report okay. The problem is that the display is highly susceptible to Radio Frequency (about 4 MHz) from nearby antennas. Even worse, the display seems to lock up and I cannot access the Weather Select feature without removing all power and starting again from scratch ... of course, this erases rain collection history and requires resetting the clock and date ... ie. .... start over again. Nice though it is, the engineers need to do a better job on shielding and work on reliability of the display unit.

The Chromebook is a tool to fill the gap between desktop computing and smart phones.
I have other laptops that I use for many complex tasks, but I very much like the Dell Chromebook I bought recently. I like the fact I can just close the lid to stop activity until I need it again. This is especially good for looking up addresses or classmates from my Excel records. I also find the Chromebook very handy for viewing YouTube videos. Because the onboard storage is so limited, I write files to a 32GB tiny thumb drive and insert the drive in my Dell Chromebook. While I don't like cloud storage, it is available for those who lack the ability to store and backup their own files. The Chromebook is a tiny, lightweight book that fills the gap between smart phone and multi-monitored desktop computers. During the day when I have a need to access special records, I can just walk over, pick up my Chromebook and quickly access records without waiting ten minutes for booting and loading files. The Chromebook is great!

Battery compartment was difficult to open. No user manual included. Laser line not easily changed from vertical to horizontal or to a spot.

No user manual included ... It appeared there was a way to flip the defracted line from vertical to horizontal ... but no there is not. Laser line not easily changed from vertical to horizontal or to a spot. When aligning posts for a building, it would be nice to see a spot to ensure the new vertical posts bring the plate back to level. In bright sunlight the defracted line is hard to see. Size is good, unit fits nicely into coverall tool pocket. The rule doesn't easily tip over, which is good. Power switch is easy to use and seems of good quality.
