Using a random long wire antenna reception was outstanding. I now use a Tecsun 660. The two had equal reception,the tone of the 398 was better.

Outstanding
The radio is amazing. I’ve been a SWL since the 1970’s. I’ve operated many radios with an array of antennas. The 398 pulls in stations I’ve been chasing for years-even with the radio’s telescopic whip. The sound quality of FM stations is great for such a small radio.

A fantastic radio
I operated a 909 in silver. This radio with an indoor external antenna worked flawlessly.
Great ears, you will need headphones or ear buds for better sound quality.
I received countless QSL cards from China to India to Egypt and throughout Europe.
