Mary-Pearls Library is dedicated to the support of families with children that are born and placed on the Newborn Intensive Care Units, Progressive Care Units and facing disabilities. The non profit is in the start up phase to provide assistance.
Mary -Pearls story:
On February 27th, 2024 Twins Mary-Pearl and Leon Boyce were born at Levine's Children Hospital. Mary- Pearl came into the world at 4 pounds 3 Ounces and was diagnosed with a Congenital Brain Malformation - Absence of the Corpus Callosum leading to enlarged ventricular size and spinal fluid in part of her brain. She is also suspected to have Frontal Lissencephaly after multiple cranial scans, MRI, and an EEG. This diagnosis along with some complications put her into the NICU minutes after her birth. Leon was born at 5 Pounds 5 ounces and after 2 days was also moved to the NICU with breathing complications and feeding issues. 19 Days later both babies were discharged together and came home to be united with their family.
