A superb oud at an attractive price, made by renowned experts
5 of 5 found this helpful Buying an Oud in the UK is difficult. You can rarely find them, and you have no idea of the quality or indeed who made it even if you do find something. Far better is to choose one of these Sandi Ouds...
They are made superbly by a small team in Turkey who have 50 years of experience and they are genuinely beautifully made. Excellent aged woods and faultless construction. They know what they are doing. I was skeptical at first but having got mine (an Arabian version) and played it for a week now, I can honestly say that this is a bargain at what ends up at about £360. The shipping is superb and Sandi provides and excellent hardcore case that they also make themselves (which, on its own, would likely cost about £100).
Also, don't be put off by the carbon tuning pegs. They retain tuning perfectly unlike many wooden pegs, which tend to slip depending on weather conditions.
Saudi is a father and son company and quickly answer queries and were helpful throughout, even supplying me with a video so that I could hear my instrument in action before buying. Brilliant!
If you're simply not sure, hopefully this will encourage you to go ahead. This is a genuine review from a delighted English customer.
