The story told looking under the gloss of many other publications
The book is written with the usual well researched, he didn't go into the usual areas that have been covered
by many other books
He looked at the interaction between the allies and why there was a little friction, however in the end the
operation went ahead.
He often looks at the "boots on the ground" to show what it was like for the troops.

El Alamein, last time britain won a battle in WW2
The history of WW2 is one of my things, this DVD is part of series titled 'BATTLEFIELD'on digital TV. The introduction is extensive, dealing with the stalemate/slow advance of the british. Monty is seen as commander who is good at 'setpiece' battles, it shows how he changed the mindset of the troops.
The series highlights top commanders on both sides, this is no exception, it's pity the commanders down at lower level are not covered enough, Though the good working relationship between the ground and air commanders was touched on, pity about the Hurricane, the cannons are too short,
How the battleplan was developed is shown in good detail, with graphics that are clear showing how the Desert Fox can't use his normal tactics of out flanking the british, some of the images show how badly british tanks were damaged, though british casualties are not shown German ones are!
The DVD. covers the battle well and the problems troops had fighting the enemy,
it also pointed out that Monty had to change tactics once or twice to keep the momentum going, though it took some time. It coverd the Torch landings, showing what will happed to the desert fox as he is pushed westward.
Overall this production is informative and dare I say entertaining, if you have an interest in this era of history, it's worth buying.

A good back up when needed.
The reason I bought the product, was to ensure I had the correct bulbs if they were required.
Because they are in a neat box, this is a good point, they can be kept in the car, just in case
sorry about the pun!
