Antimacassars for couch and armchair
This is the ideal protection for our upholstered couch and armchair. Hair is as greasy today as it was in Victorian times. These items look good, keep the chair backs clean, and are easily laundered

Still the best book available for modeling H.M.S. Victory
This is an important but out-of-print book about building a scale model of HMS Victory, Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar. I first bought a copy in the 1970's, to help me build an Airfix plastic kit of the ship; many years later it helped me build a far bigger and better model in wood. It doesn't matter how good you are at ship modeling, if you want a good, readable account of this historic ship (though not its history), then this is the book for you. The author, Nepean Longridge, constructed an incredibly detailed model of the Victory on which this book is based, supposedly as she appeared at Trafalgar. That model now resides in the Science Museum in London. For me, the real value of the book is its illustraions and fold-out plans, lovingly drafted by famed maritime architect George Campbell, who also drew plans for the Cutty Sark in London and the USS Constitution in Boston. Campbell's model was built just before the Second World War, and was completed only after hostilities ceased. Modern research suggests that some details of the model should be revised (which of course will probably never happen), but these are relatively minor (for example, the arrangement of guns on the fore-deck and details of the coat of arms decorating the taffrail). Overall, Campbell's book is still a worthwhile investment and, at current prices, second-hand copies should be eagerly snapped up by anybody with a love for 18th-Century naval architecture or ship modeling. Highly recommended; I just bought a second copy and retired my old one.

Excellent faux parrot for a pirate costume. Held in place with elastic, which tends to slip off my shoulder, but easily fixed with a safety pin (which of course all pirates have in their wardrobe!)
