What were our forebearers thinking?
This is a well written, & concise history of punishment in England & America, primarily during the Colonial period. It dispells some myths & misconceptions, & gives excellent examples of the types of people subjected to each type of punishment. Covered in the book are "Ducking", the "Pillory", & "Stocks", the "Brank", whipping, & much more. It is sometimes very humorous, & it is a quick & entertaining read. Having said that, it is also obviously well researched, with documentation, & would also be excellent for anyone doing serious research on the subject.

Better quality than I expected
The hat is stiff, so it isn't floppy. It was also larger than I expected, but this was a good thing. I you want to add feathers, this is done fairly easily. I was pleased with the appearance, and quality of the hat.

Excellent fabric and value
This linen has a soft feel once it's washed, lightweight, but tight enough weave for durability. Because the stripe pattern is woven into the fabric, rather than printed, it is historically accurate, and excellent for aprons, etc.
