Still a fun game after 29 years; think Wreckfest but for PS1
For a game from the original Playstation's early days, DD holds up pretty well. Graphics aren't bad for 1995, and game play is simple but solid. More than being a straight racing game, you have to earn points by causing opponents to spin out and/or crash. Unfortunately, the number of courses is limited, but they can be a challenge thanks to multi-car pile-ups and a few intersecting segments.
Definitely worth a purchase if you like games like Wreckfest (of which DD is a spiritual ancestor) or are interested in the history and games of the original Playstation. It's also kinda neat to have the "long box" version of the game with the original manual and registration card.
Fun fact: this is one of the PS1 titles that supports the serial port, which allows you to do machine-to-machine multiplayer. Unfortunately, you'll need a second compatible PS1, the serial cable, a second screen and second copy of the game for it to work.
