Show Way by Jacqueline Woodson
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a beautifully written children's picture book dealing with the powerful subject of slavery and civil rights. I decided to buy the book for my children because I am a history lover and believe that, if it is done correctly, history should be introduced to children at a young age. I believe this book was done correctly and beautifully. I love that the text tells about slavery, but leaves a lot open for discussion with parents. This allows the parents to determine what level of discussion their child is ready for. I also love that the book goes through the generations of the authors family where they started out slaves, were free, went through civil rights, and ended with careers all discussed through the theme of a patchwork quilt and the importance those quilts played to the African American communities through generations. Very beautiful - for ages 4-8.

Great Book
I bought this book for my three year old daughter. She loves the story of the kitten thinking the moon is a bowl of milk. I agree and think most children will also enjoy it. Great pictures in black and white with a cute story.
