Sadly the squirrels won!
3 of 3 found this helpful Sadly by Day 2 the squirrels had bitten off three of the 4 plastic perches. This left just the open holes in the plastic tube. I taped the bottom half of each hole with very strong parcel tape but the squirrels just chewed through that.
If the tube was glass and the perch fittings metal, I don't think the squirrels could break/chew through those.
The outer guide wire is no deterrent as they squeeze their heads and shoulders through.
The feeder is hung on a shepherd's crook and the squirrels launch themselves from trees to shrubs and then leap to the feeder.
They are very determined. I have a large number of different wild birds feeding on the seeds and suet balls so want to continue. Will keep trying . . .
