Great jazz for the Intermediate player.

First off, this book is for intermediate students. It contains several Duke Ellington hits, along with a play-along CD that mirrors the melody with xylophone and also includes a band accompaniment. Spaces (and chords) are given for solos, and overall the arrangements are simple. It *seems* that the book is directly transcribed for the clarinet (though I haven't played all the songs yet), so playing this with either a band or another recording is possible. I wanted to get this mainly because I've been doing pretty much classical and concert band in the 11+ years of my playing, did jazz trombone for one year, and then fell in love with jazz (especially Cottontail). I wanted to get some jazz music for my main instrument, so I got this. It's a bit unchallenging for me, but I think perfect for the *average* high school player getting his/her feet wet with jazz. Happy playing!
