A simple and reliable film holder for dry scanning of 120 negatives and slides.
This film holder does a good job of holding film flat for "dry" scanning. It must be calibrated (once) with small adjustment screws, and these sometimes move, so they should be checked periodically. Otherwise the unit performs easily and reliably.
"Wet" scanning, which involves immersing the film in a solvent before scanning, yields a somewhat sharper image, but is much less convenient and requires a separate film carrier. It's really only worthwhile for very big enlargements.
