A classic conga that is hard to find
The Carlos Valdez quinto I purchased has a great unique sound and I am glad to have one. Because the base at the bottom of the conga is a little more narrow, the sound and projection is different. The conga head is animal skin, not synthetic which I prefer. I believe the conga is fiberglass, which is better if you take your conga on the road.

Very good short scale bass
I really like this bass. Now I can get that Bernard Edwards from Chic bass tone, as he played the professional model Sterling. This bass comes close without the price tag. And since it is so light, my shoulders are saying thank you for taking a break from my 5 string 34 inch scale Fender bass. Good for slapping, and my bass came with Ernie Ball short scale strings. I have never tried them before and I like the tone for this bass. I still may one day buy the Sterling Ray 34 one day but that is way in the future and this bass will definitely do for now. You can really tweek the sound to what you like, the 3 knobs on the bass give you some nice sounds.

Glad I bought this mouthpiece
This mouthpiece is very open and strong playing (70/0) and I found it makes it much easier to go from my alto sax to my soprano sax. It is also a loud mouthpiece like all the Berg Larsen mouthpieces. The intonation is good and so is the projection as well as that great Berg Larsen tone I wanted. I use a 2.5 Hemle reed where I shave the reed down a little below the heart of the reed and the high F comes out no problem and the same for the low Bb. I may order another one with maybe a 70/3 opening as this mouthpiece is great for jazz, R&B, and pop music however I may want a more mellower sound for acoustic jazz.
