Very good book.
Another excellent volume in the "through passenger service" series. This one features the Northern Pacific including the North Coast Limited and the Mainstreeter.

An expanded edition of one of the best railroad books
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a great book. Frailey tells the inside story of a sad but fascinating time in the railroad industry. Through interviews with many of the people involved at the time, he passes on the story of what went on inside the management of several different railroads dealing with the problems of operating passenger service in a difficult market. Photos, maps, and detailed diagrams of the trains operated complete the story. I highly recommend this volume.
