Back them off a little for sweet, Crank them up for growl.
I love the way these pickups sound...clear but with a good break up when pushed. Pickups are a very subjective thing. So, I'd suggest that anyone try them out first, if possible to see if BT Filtertrons are their sound. I like all of the Filtertron styles. But the BTs have the best balance of naughty and nice for me. The Broadtrons that these replaced are fine pickups and have a brighter than average humbucker tone. But, the Blacktops were definitely an upgrade for me...and perfect (with slight mods to fit) for the G2655t that I installed them in. Recommended to anyone who wants the "Gretsch Sound."

About as close as you'll get without actual tubes
1 of 1 found this helpful This pedal sounds fantastic! I almost never buy individual sound pedals over multifx modelers. But, because this one had some great reviews and was such a bargain, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm using this pedal as the preamp for an acoustic guitar amplifier. The amplifier doesn't have any tone controls on the guitar side. So, I wanted to be able to use the pedal for EQ and tube sound. Plus, it's battery powered, so a good choice for busking.
The American Sound delivers just what it says. You can dial it in to sound almost indistinguishable from an old Fender Princeton (I used to own one). You can get a nice tube sparkle clean and chimey tone on up to a overdriven balls out kind of sound.
If I were to add anything to this pedal, it would be the rest of the amp controls...spring reverb and tremelo. I'd pay double for that box - a complete old Fender sound in a stomp box.
Really, this is one of the most authentic sounding pedals I've ever heard. Buy it.

Great for small fish
I use this for surf fishing. I catch a lot of whiting and they generally run around 1-2 lbs. So, I needed something for there smaller mouths. This grippers works great and I am able to get the hook out faster for less "fish out of water" time. Being plastic, I don't worry about using it in saltwater. The last stainless steel gripping I had, rusted almost instantly. So much for "stainless." I like the ball lanyard alright. But, I might swap it for a plastic carabiner to be able to quickly grab it off my bucket or belt loop. While it might seem fairly expensive for a plastic tool, it really is well made. And, the plastic seems sturdy. So, I think it will outlast the cheap versions I've seen. When you've got a fish wriggling on the line, the last thing you want is for the gripper to break. So, it's worth a couple extra dollars to get the real thing. This is definitely one of those handy tools you don't think about until you need it.
