Hikari Ultimate Water Conditioner is a very comprehensive product!
I use this product for many reasons, however I do not use it for every water change after my tanks have completely cycled. I use Hikari Ultimate to thoroughly treat new water for the required water change before administering medications, especially when Hikari brand medications, since it is part of the instructions. It can be used before giving your fish any and all types of medications, unless noted otherwise on the packaging. Often after medication treatments are finished, the tank's beneficial bacteria has been killed off or seriously lessened. This product removes ammonia and nitrites that can spike during a mini-cycle. These are detrimental to your fish. I treat water for water changes with this to keep down ammonia and nitrites until the beneficial bacteria colony is robust again in the filtration system. Always follow medication treatment instructions to the word. Always take the time to do the maths for your tank size to make sure you dose medications properly. Always do the maths for any water treatment products used for your tank size! I love this product and highly recommend it! Always, always use LIQUID tests to check your tank water during non-meds, meds, and post-meds timeframes. Perform maintenance as required by your test results.

Excellent! Mardel Maracyn Two
I use this product along with Mardel Maracyn when I have any kind of fungus or bacterial problem with my freshwater fish. It's sometimes difficult to determine which is the problem, and other times not. So I have learned that in my aquatic environment that using them together exactly as directed has always eliminated a fungus or bacterial infection in my fish. For me it does cause a mini-cycle even though many folks say they did not. I do not use it every single time I see a potential threat to my fish. I believe excellent aquarium and inhabitants husbandry is key to keeping your fish and aquatic environment healthy. This is a product I would highly recommend!
