9 speed Shimano is nicely interchangeable
I set up a bike with Deore shifters, and road derailleurs. Works well. Shimano interchangeability got worse starting with 10 speed technologies.

FSA Gossamer Brakes are a bargain
They stop really well and are lightweight construction. They compare favorably with Shimano 105 and Ultegra brakesets at a substantial price savings.
