The compression plates do not insert into installed front springs of a w123 without spreading the springs. Easy enough to jam them in to remove the old spring, but the problem is worse in reverse. Trying to remove the plates from inside an installed spring took me about an hour of prying and spreading to pop them out. Also completely destroyed the spring’s coating. This tool is better than standard spring compressors, but still not a good choice
