Using this speedometer in a car

These are designed for use in a boat. I am using mine as a speedometer in a car. In a boat, where instantaneous readings are not needed, this is perfect. It is very accurate at a sustained speed, but it lags during acceleration or deceleration, by up to 5 seconds. No problem for me, since I am merely trying to make sure I'm not holding an illegal cruising speed. However, for those who want to evaluate 0-60 runs (the type of accuracy one would expect in a car speedometer), they would want to know before installation about this characteristic. Also, the mounting and wiring studs on the back-side of the unit are quite long, and most likely will require cutting to shorten them, especially to protect against short circuits. I was able to thoroughly check out the speedometer's performance before installing it into the final vehicle, so I was certain that it would suit me before I cut down the studs. Though I had no choice about shortening them, I knew that it was unlikely that I could return the unit if I discovered that it was faulty. So, I recommend that anyone wanting to pre-test a new one should do the same.

These are proper replacements for any pad of this size. The foam is correct and durable and can be trimmed for size and punched for vacuum holes. The adhesive is excellent. Highly recommended. A real bargain.
