Used this OEM model cap for 15 years - this is only my second one
(A) How to unlock and remove: Hold the cap still with one hand, and turn the key left 90 degrees and back. The cap will now be removable. (B)To lock: Putting it back on will lock it automatically. When you here the clicks, you're done (after turning sufficiently).
Understand, tough, the lock will freeze in the winter if it gets water in the keyhole. Get around this by 1) warming the key up, 2) pour or spray alcohol into the keyhole, 3) keep the key and its mechanism lubed with graphite, 4) pour warm water on it, 5) keep the cap dry, or dry it off, particularly after car washing in the winter.
