Greatest radio Midland ever discontinued!
1 of 1 found this helpful This radio, the Midland GXT 5000, is a great handheld FRS/GMRS that rises above the "toy" grade radios they sell in pairs in bubble packs. Professional grade with all of the right accessories for street use by those who need a heavy duty worksite radio. Yes, they are pricey, but like I said, they are not toys you let your kids play with. These will last for a good long time with their 2200 milliamp lithium ion batteries, and being waterproof, don't care if it gets a wet. They are so good that I bought four of them! Spare batteries are available at good prices. Same with accessories.
Now the bad news. They are discontinued by Midland, again! Yes, for the second time, Midland has taken them off the market. Hopefully, they change their minds again and start to sell this model again. Maybe a little cheaper this time so the amount of sales convinces them to keep making these great radios!
