Great motor, good deal, fast free - more than enough motor!
1 of 2 found this helpful Great motor but more than I needed. I was replacing a 3 phase with a single phase motor for the typical reason. The three phase was 5 hp with a 1 1/8” shaft and a heavy case iron pulley. So I looked at 5 hp motors with a 7/8” shaft and buying a cheaper pulley but in the end paid more for this. Also I got a 184T and should have bought a 182T but was having trouble finding it in a 5hp 1 1/8” shaft motor. Starting to get the picture? I should have done more homework. But its a great motor that will probably outlast my grandkids, smooth, quiet, powerful etc. So if I did a little more research I could have spent less and had an easier time mounting it, but Im happy with the deal and done with the project.

obsolete but a great bargain, especially if you need a lit of them.
I needed forty and $8 each seemed a lot better than $35 and up. But there is a delay between turning on the switch and the lights coming on - probably just under a second, but enough to be annoying, and current offerings ($35 and up) come on instantly. Still it was the right choice at the time, but if you aren't doing a big job, I'd say look for newer, and thus more advanced lighting. Also I retro'd them in to new fixtures and did not use the light bulb socket adapters - maybe they would work properly as an upgrade to incandescent bulbs in older can lights. I dunno......

Good value for the price - solved the problem
While this seems like a less expensive reproduction of the original and not NOS, it cost about a third of NOS and appears to work just as well. It also fit perfectly in the original mount, and plugged into the harness properly. I was a little concerned about the appearance as it did not appear to be as high quality as the original, but It was a good deal and it works, which the original does not.
