The phone holder's long and fairly strong arm makes it a product you can use in passenger cars as well as in trucks. Even in my hulking F250, the extension is long enough to attach it to the windshield and reach well past the dashboard to near the steering wheel. Suction cup is plenty strong enough to hold it, but it definitely does need the supporting stand to keep the phone reasonably steady. The only thing I wish were different is the cradle depth. with a protective sleeve on the phone, the phone sits very far forward on the bottom pegs, and I would not trust it in very rough conditions. But, to its credit, the holder has not yet released and dropped the phone under normal driving conditions. When empty, the holder rattles - the side arms need to be completely closed for the rattling to stop.
