Another Great Elvis Collaboration!
This is an intense listen, but also joyous and, of course, thoughtful, funny and intelligent. Elvis fans would expect as much — but it becomes clear quickly that The Roots bring just as much to the table as EC. Recommended.

Something for everyone in this fine and funny memoir
Dreaming, Carolyn See's memoir of growing up the child of an alcoholic mother and an absent father in post-WWII southern California (and becoming an adult during the 1960s, then eventually finding her calling as a writer) is an incredibly satisfying read -- it really doesn't matter if you can "recognize" yourself/family life in her story or not. I, like probably most other readers, could -- let's face it, there are alcoholics and divorces in almost all American families -- but I also have friends who come from the most "picture-perfect" families who've loved this book as well (there are just so many great tales told in it). See is funny, most of all -- and has a depreciating sense of humor about the risks, mistakes and triumphs of her life so far. There are no real villians or heroes in this book, just people stumbling through life, trying to play the cards they were dealt (as See says) and doing the best they can. Enough said -- just read it -- you won't regret it!
