Extremely fragile plastic parts that are unlikely to survive shipment.
The faceplate on this series of computers is very brittle and breaks easily. It is true that the item is 40 years old, however I have owned many portable computers of the same age, and none of them have problems with the face plate plastic. The seller I bought this item from packaged the item extremely well (8" of bubble wrap in a double wall box with no room to shift around) and it still arrived with a shattered faceplate. It's worth noting that none of the packaging had the slightest damage to it on arrival, just the cheap thin plastic that Texas Instruments chose to use for this computer.

More interesting than it seems at first.
Although similar to a standard Seagate ST-251, this drive is fairly unique. It essentially is a permanently terminated ST-251 with a slightly different board on the bottom, with a strange startup seek that sounds closer to a voice coil drive than a stepper drive. It seems just as reliable as Seagate's other ST-2XX drives, and performs well for an ST-412 class stepper motor hard drive.

Great if you can find them in working order.
When these hard drives work, they are excellent for use in vintage computers they are fast for their time and market segment and make seeking sounds unique to this series of drives. Unfortunately, these drives were made in MiniScribe's dying days, and many of them did not survive in good working condition. My reasoning for 4 stars instead of 5 is that these drives are harder to find in working condition than other drives of the same era (the Seagate ST-157A in particular), making their purchase in untested condition a significant gamble.
