Great resource for the basics and entertaining
Great book for basics, but some of the recipes aren’t quite as great as I had hoped. The brownies are bland, for instance. But the book makes up for the occasional blah by loading readers up with helpful tips and hints about a very wide range of foods, etiquette, menu ideas, and even gives explanations and backstories for some ingredients.
It’s not your grandmother’s book of family recipes, but it’s a good resource for the kitchen.
I was surprised to see a recipe for Kimg Ranch Chicken in there- which is NOT a Texas traditional food- it’s more of a Dallas-Fort Worth area traditional food as far as I can tell.
