Key role in curing acute nervous/muscle diseases e.g. poliomyelitis, muscle dystrophy etc. Also antidote for many CNS nerve poisons including military grades nerve gas agents eg sarin, VX, etc.
Often used post anesthesia in the surgery. Also used as X ray marker
It is beyond my understanding why in the USA it is marked primary for Alzheimer disease, and "lucid dreaming".
