Surprisingly useful
5 of 5 found this helpful Beyond the obvious cool factor this knife is extremely useful. It chops like a light hatchet, whacks like a machete and can even do light carving and cutting chores. The handle is A+ for comfort and grip. The double front and rear lanyard holes give you options for attachments. Some reviews ding the plastic sheath but I find it more than adequate and very light weight to boot. I paracord wrapped a mora knife and sheath to the outside of this giving me a total cutting tool setup on my belt. After a big wind storm I processed a 15' long 6" thick tree branch that came down in my back yard. Just used a corona folding saw to cut into short lengths and batoned all the wood using the kershaw camp 10. Knife was still paper cutting sharp afterwards. Great value...and did I mention cool!

Epic Knife
1 of 1 found this helpful The design of the TOPS silent hero fits everything I was looking for in a medium sized bushcraft/camping/hiking knife. It's an excellent slicer, chopper, carver with a robust tactical capability. Overall quality is top notch. Handle ergonomics and balance are perfection. I LOVE the rocky mountain tread pattern in the micarta scales. The 1095 steel is differentially heat treated in a way you can actually see with the very nice stone wash blade finish. This blade takes and retains an extremely sharp edge. I mean laser sharp!
What really makes this knife unique is the forward lanyard hole right behind the finger choil. I attached a paracord lanyard between the front hole and the rear one creating a cobra weave strap. I sized it for use bare handed or with gloves. The knife is literally locked to my hand no matter what grip or function I'm using. This makes this the safest yet most effective knife I own.
Thanks to Anton Du Plessis for designing this knife and to TOPS for producing it.

Newest version
Actually received the newest version of this knife with full powder coat blade and upgraded leather sheath. Better than what was shown in the posting. Just be aware these are not convex edge but rather beveled grind now. I recommend this product. Thanks knifeguy78.
