One of my all time favorite movies
The cinematography is stunning. The beauty, simplicity, and cohesiveness of Amish life are portrayed flawlessly. I grew up near Lancaster, Pennsylvania and the "flavor" of the area as conveyed in the movie is authentic, although portrayal of the occasional interactions between the "plain" and the "English" is somewhat overdrawn at times. The initial tension of the relationship between the lovers and its ultimate, thoughtful resolution is gentle, romantic, and intensely poignant. Suspenseful plot and evocative music add to the genuine appeal of this older, very well acted, Harrison Ford film.

Now I get it!
The leather edition is beautifully done as far as the outside. But the inside, with the large print, is even better!. So relaxing to read. And it feels so good to hold a traditional, leather bible as I read.
The translation is so remarkable. It freshens your perspective on what is really being said. The Old Testament, for me anyway, is so challenging--I love getting to the "good part" when Jesus shows up!. Yet the old testament is what Jesus read. So this translation has before each book a summary of what God is revealing in it, all the sacrifices, rules, etc., paving the way for Jesus. So then when you read through all the "begats" and animal sacrifice/bloody parts you understand it in a more modern context of God being all in the thick of it, listening to entreaties, bringing us up in his holy way, training and teaching us etc. So positive!. Highly recommend.
