Essential Upgrade
I was worried this wasn't going to increase the speed of my scooter (e-22) since the battery was originally listed for different models excluding this one (until I messaged the seller). Needless to say, it works to the desired speed of 15mph! With this power upgrade, even though it's only a 3mph increase, I strongly feel, it makes a substantial difference. Before, without it, the e-22 felt like a high-powered toy. But after installing the external battery, the e-22 now feels like a more serious way of commuting to work.
I suspect that some if not all the third party batteries (the metallic-looking ones) won't allow the scooter to fold completely from what I vaguely remember reading. But with this on-brand battery, you should have no problem as it has been tested to close and stay shut successfully. The only downside about this, as goes for any external battery, it's a little awkward to carry when folded and the charging port on the battery cannot be accessed when in this position as another reviewer mentioned.
And it was admittedly hard for me to pay the $200, but I feel no cognitive dissonance because this battery was manufactured specifically by Segway and I got it brand new, not to mention, I picked up the scooter also brand new at half the retail price. Buying the scooter and this battery around the same time was like buying the scooter around full price. In that way of looking at it, the cost tremendously outweighed the price for me. Even so, if you happen to have any nine bot scooter that this battery services, I wouldn't even hesitate to get one if you commute medium distances.
Very content with this purchase and frees me the worry of having to over plan my trips on one charge.
