The Swap Out
Well one day my computer stopped working, dead as in DoDo. Took it to a local repair shop and quoted over £100-00 and told it was not worth repairing but heyho they could quote me for a new mini tower.Thanks but no thanks. Bit of research and found this piece of kit. Checked it was the correct one for my tower, ordered, delivered pdq, thanks very much. Now to take my box of bits apart, Wow its full of bits mostly full of dust and fluff(which caused the problem in the first place)and what I need to get at is surprisingly at the end of the chain. Having located all the secret clips/springs and screws it eventually came out. Replacement was a bit of a fiddle as it is a bit tight but to be fair that's shown in the description and more tentacles than an octopus but taking it slowly and cleaning out the afore mentioned fluff and dust as it was reassembled it all went back together. It should be noted that some of the leads had more connections than the original so a quick phone call confirmed my suspicions that this unit fits other units and the spares can be safely tucked out of the way. Powered up and away to go, brilliant. OK I am an electrician but electronics is not my strong point but with a bit of care it can be done . The unit has been up and running now for a couple of weeks no probs at all. Would definitely recommend and the guys on the tech line were very helpful and quick to respond to my question re the additional plugs.
