Great for vacuum forming small parts
1 of 1 found this helpful The unit is a self contained complete vacuum forming unit. It uses suitable plastic that need to be cut to 5 X 5 inch squares, and when heated and lowered onto a pattern you want to make, will form around the pattern with good detail.
The usable area for a pattern is about 4" square... so only small items can be formed.
For my purposes, it works very well and I'm completely happy with it.
The only thing to be alerted to is that the heating element and chamber gets very hot and if your not careful would be very easy to burn yourself. This is not a toy, but a quality piece of equipment that does its job well.
Most plastic sheets are available in 6X6 or 12 X 12 sizes, so you need to waste some of the raw material to use it to cut it down to size. Splint type dental material is already the correct size, but a bit more expensive than off the shelf plastic.

Great individual Loupes
The Eye Loups on the glasses are useless as they are delivered. However, I found that you may easily remove the loupe/light assembly from the eyeglass framing, and use the loupes as individual eye magnifiers. They are great using them in this way! The light does a great job of making it easy to see what you are looking at, and the magnification is perfect for inspecting small parts and PC board assembly. As an eye loupe, they are as good as an illuminated microscope.
I have purchased 4 sets of these (8 loupes) and use them until the battery dies in the light. It takes quite a while for that to happen and these are cheaper to purchase than to buy replacement batteries.
