  This item came with dead batteries in it, but I expected that in advance since it is from 2007 and still new in the box. I was able to open it, change out the old batteries and put in new ones, and it works perfectly! I appreciate this seller's communication in answering my questions before I ordered it too. My 3 year old son is going to be so excited Christmas morning as this is the ONLY toy he has asked Santa for this year.
