Improved in every way.
6 of 6 found this helpful This written from the perspective of a long time D5100 owner. I finally decided to upgrade from my old camera. I saw this at a pretty decent price, and read a few reviews about how good this camera was. After receiving the camera, I noticed right away How much smaller it was, compared to my D5100. That's not bad, just different. It actually feels better in my hand. Right away, I could tell the difference in the auto focus system. I sometimes use my DSLR for video, and the auto focus is far more responsive. Speaking of video, I can vouch this is now a viable option. I was very impressed with the quality with my 50mm 1.8 and shooting in 24p. I mainly use a Canon XA35, and would put the footage I captured in the same category as it. It's not a full time video shooter, but for the back, it's pretty good. Photos are crisp and clear. I love the touchscreen. It makes it so much easier to make adjustments to my exposure on the fly. All in all, this is a well thought out camera. For an upper novice shooter like myself, this is the perfect balance of quality, helps and price. Highly recommended.
